• The Civil Engineering is a branch of engineering department which involved in planning, designing and construction technique for the maintenance and development of the infrastructure of the country.
• It is one of the oldest branch of engineering which attains a dramatic improvement in the modern century.
• Many engineering works like Highway and Railway construction, Bridge and Tunnel Construction, Irrigation works, Water Treatment System, Pollution Control works, Airways are involved in the Civil Engineering, it mainly aims in the development of the country in various aspects.
• This course impact the students to understand the essential need for the welfare of the environment and the society.

• The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year of 2011 with an aim of providing high quality education in the field of Civil Engineering.
• The department has a well-equipped laboratory facilities to enhance the students with the practical knowledge in their core subjects.
• The faculty members of the department have high experience in teaching and industrial works.
• The students are provided with well infra-structured classrooms and library to elaborate their knowledge in academic activities and research works.
• The students are groomed to face the challenges in the future and to develop themselves with the national development.

• Civil department signed MoU with National Highway Authority of India on August 7, 2020.
• It mainly serves for the student Internships, Projects and Research activities in Highways.

In our department several consultancy work are carried out for various construction process in and around the Ramanathapuram districts. Few Works are listed below

• Compression test for fly ash bricks are done for the construction of Hospital Building in PWD department.
• Compression strength of the concrete cubes are determined for Er.Rizwan, AMD Design Sudio& Construction, Kilakarai.
• Compression test on concrete cubes are done for the construction of Mahal at Karkathakudi in Thiruvadanai Taluk for Mr.S.Immanuvel, Ramanathapuram.
• Compression test on concrete cubes and RCC work are done for GAIL (India) Ltd, Ramanathapuram.
• Soil test is conducted for Mr.V.R.Vinothkumar (Ramanathapuram) to determine the safe bearing capacity of the soil sample.
• Compression test on concrete cubes are done for Mas Constructon, Nagapattinam.
• Soil test is conducted to determine the bearing capacity of the soil sample for Mr.Siva, Ramanathapuram.
• Compression strength of the concrete cubes are determined for Er.RaviSolaman, Ramanathapuram.
• Soil test is conducted to determine the bearing capacity of the soil sample for Mr.Arun Prakash, Pullangudi, Ramanathapuram.
• Soil test is conducted to determine the bearing capacity of the soil sample for Mr.AshikRakeel, Kilakarai, Ramanathapuram.
• Compression strength of the concrete cubes are determined for Mr.Siva, Mulakothalam, Ramanathapuram.
