Department of B.E Biomedical
PREAMBLE

Biomedical engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to biology and medicine. Biomedical engineers focus on advances in technology and medicine to develop new devices and equipment for improving human health. For example, they might design software to run medical equipment or computer simulations to test new drug therapies. Biomedical engineering focuses on advances that improve human health and healthcare at all levels by implementing medical devices, such as pacemakers and artificial hips, through different technologies such as stem cell engineering and the 3-D printing of biological organs. BME also traditionally integrates logical sciences to advance healthcare treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy. Another aspect of a biomedical engineer's scope is the management of current medical equipment in hospitals while adhering to relevant industry standards. This involves procurement, routine testing, preventive maintenance, and making equipment recommendations, a role also known as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) or clinical engineering.

Prominent biomedical engineering applications include the development of biocompatible prostheses, various diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices ranging from clinical equipment to micro-implants, common imaging equipment such as MRIs and EKG/ECGs, regenerative tissue growth, pharmaceutical drugs, and therapeutic biological.

Some biomedical engineers focus on creating new medical devices such as prosthetics and medical imaging to determine how injuries occur and how effective safety equipment is, using stem cells to create artificial parts of the human body.

At its inception in 2023, SYED AMMAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE offered the undergraduate program (B.E.) in Biomedical Engineering (BME) with an intake of 30 students. The department has highly experienced faculties with various domain knowledge along with research activities in Biomedical Engineering. The department is fully committed to preparing students to create solutions for the healthcare industry.
